The Mount Isa Branch of the Sporting Shooters Association Australia (SSAA) operates as a branch of SSAA Queensland (SSAA Qld Web site) being a state branch of the nations body SSAA (SSAA National Web Site)

Code of Ethics

The club adheres to and promotes the SSAA Code of Ethics
SSAA members undertake to adhere to the following basic ethical requirements (breach of which may result in suspension of membership or expulsion from the Association).

  • Having first obtained a landholder’s permission to shoot on his property, members consider themselves to be invited guests, so that they will be welcome on subsequent visits.
  • They obey the rules of safe firearm handling and diplomatically yet firmly insist others to do the same.
  • They obey relevant game laws and regulations.
  • They acquire marksmanship and hunting skills which will ensure clean harvesting of game.
  • They support game conservation programs.
  • And, most importantly, they pass on to youngsters the attitudes to game and conservation and the skills of safe firearms ownership which are the hallmark of the sporting shooter.

The club may appoint additional office bearers as it deem necessary and may form sub committees as it deems necessary.

All position holders are elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), see below. Any member can nominate for any position provided they are eligible under section 61A of the Associations Incorporation Act of 1981 (see below)

Acts and Regulations

The club is bound by the Associations Incorporation Act of 1981 (Act) as well as the Associations Incorporation Regulation 1999 (Reg).

Meetings

In accordance with the Associations Incorporation Act of 1981 and the Constitution the Club will conduct an Annual General Meeting (AGM) once per annum, in addition to this the executive will meet monthly. Meetings dates and times will be promulgated and are available on the calendar page.

All members are encouraged to attend all meeting to provide input into the running of the club.
